The Bergen was honored to be the first Norwegian city that hosted the final of Eurovision.
In 1986 we were back in the Netherlands and Yugoslavia and the first in the history of the institution's participation in Iceland. Towards the end of 1985, however, quite unexpectedly, Italy said its third abstained from the competition (1981, 1982) without giving any reason. Greece, though a little later and took part in the draw for the series in appearance, and stated that due to the high abstention celebration of Easter. Indeed, the ERT broadcast the competition the next day, Sunday May 4 at video, noon. Thus twenty countries took part in 1986!
The 13 years old SANDRA KIM from Belgium with the song J'aime la vie won the committees, who voted in all, giving Belgium its first victory after 31 years of participation in the Contest. The Sandra Kim also has the record for the lowest age at winning the Eurovision. To avoid becoming such a young age disadvantage as regards the vote of national committees, the RTBF had falsely stated that it was 15 years old.
Here we would like to mention something that said the presenter of the evening and future Minister of Culture of the country ASE KLEVELAND (NOR 66-3rd) just before the start of voting. Features said: I know many of you we would like you to vote, I feel. Technical difficulties, however, prohibit us to do a pan-European vote. Let us hope that someday in the future will come this time! Already in 1986 talked of the TELEVOTING!
