The Irish TV (RTE) has organized a very successful institution, after the Eurovision was not treated as a simple broadcasting, but as a major international event.
Before the event were exhibitions and equestrian events. Indeed, the RTE for the first time made the green room, in the form we know today, the space that artists are as the results anounced. He was even green, as green is the color of hope for victory. It introduced the first Euroclub, the Eurovision Village.
In 1981 Israel has returned after a year absence and presence Yugoslavia declares after 4 years. Last participation was in 1978. Another fact which declared in 1981 was the first participation of Cyprus. Thus, a total of 20 countries took place in Dublin that year.
Remarkable coincidence of Dublin 1981 was compared with 1980 series draw: Austria lot again appears first, second and Turkey in Luxembourg fourth! Big favorite of the year were Germany with Lena Valaitis and the song Johnny Blue.
The voting was exciting until the last minute 4 countries claiming the prize, Germany occupied the 2nd position.
4 new children represented the United Kingdom, Bucks Fizz, that the Making up your mind won the 4th victory for their country. To succeed, but their victory was not easyat all after only 2 countries before completing the vote had triple tie between the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland with 120 points.
Norway for the 2nd time in 4 years occupies the last place with 0 points.
